Raised in Victoria, Billy Murphy is a 5th Generation cattle rancher who developed an early appreciation for land. Billy has established himself as the “go-to Land Guy” in the Gulf Coast Region. As part of the J.F. Welder Heirs, he is a member of one of the oldest undivided family ranching partnerships in Texas.
Taking on an active role in the partnership, Billy has served as Chairman of the J.F. Welder Heirs Ranchland Council for the past 15 years. During his tenure, Billy has focused on wildlife management, brush control and creating recreational opportunities for the family. He has worked with NRCS, FSA, Texas Parks & Wildlife, and Ducks Unlimited on several conservation and government cost/share programs and has dealt with numerous land issues concerning water and mineral rights. He oversees the MLDP program, and of course, always lends his expertise in land aquisitions.
Billy is a TCU graduate and completed the TCU Ranch Management Program in 1999. He began his ranch real estate career in 2003 out of a desire to help others begin their legacy of land ownership. Choosing to remain where he was raised and began his career, Billy has been helping buyers and sellers of land in Victoria and surrounding counties for over 20 years.
In the past 7 years, Billy has brokered over 140 land transactions totaling over 150 million in ranch sales. He was among the top 6% of all Coldwell Banker sales associates worldwide from 2015-2020, the top 3% in 2022 and has been in the top 1% of all Coldwell Banker agents in 2013, 2014, and 2021, 2022 and 2023.
Billy continues his passion for ranching today. Along with his wife and two children, he lives on his family ranch along the Guadalupe River in Nursery, Texas. In addition to helping manage the ranch, Billy also runs his own herd of commercial brangus cattle. Although his cattle herd and two young children keep him bouncing between the softball fields, baseball fields and the hay fields, Billy also finds time for his other interests – hunting South Texas and fishing the Guadalupe.
Billy knows land. He is most at home when showing ranches and sharing his insight into land stewardship. Over the years, Billy has developed the knowledge and negotiation skills needed to navigate the complexities of land ownership and sales.
